Coinciding with the Birth Anniversary of her Majesty the Queen Azhi Jetsun Pema Wangchuck, the National Environment Commission Secretariat (NECS) marked the World Environment Day on 4th June, 2019 cleaning up the Chubachu Stream. Volunteers from various institutions and NGOs such as the Department of Forest & Park Services, Bhutan Telecom, Tarayana Foundation, Thimphu Thromde and Clean Bhutan participated in the cleaning campaign.

Volunteers from BPC cleaned along the adopted stretch at Chubachu and collected various waste such as plastics, rags and bottles. The day highlighted the importance of keeping our streams clean, to instill a sense of ownership and avoid dumping our wastes into our rivers and streams. Please refrain from open dumping and mind your own wastes to protect our environment.
