SAP ERP Implementation Readiness Workshop

The SAP ERP Implementation Readiness Workshop was held at the Conference Hall, BPC, Thimphu chaired by Dasho Bharat Tamang, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bhutan Power Corporation Ltd. on August 10, 2010 from 2.15 PM to 5.15 PM.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in his opening address accorded full executive sponsor for the project and mentioned full commitment and dedication for the successful completion of the ERP project is assured from the top management. He mentioned BPC have taken the lead role in many initiatives in the past and want to be pioneer in the SAP ERP implementation field as well wherein BPC is looking towards providing enterprise management services on SAP ERP and data center services in Bhutan. He also urged all the members of the ERP program management structure to be futuristic and to contribute proactively to the project and directed to undertake as much learning as possible through the project. He stressed on the project to be driven by high integrity and quality values with highest security – physical and data possible. The CEO welcomed Ms. Wipro Ltd, India more as BPC’s business partner than as an implementation partner. He further directed that the ERP project should be implemented with minimum bureaucracy possible and empowered the ERP program management structure to take most of the decisions related to the project.
Mr. Sonam Tobjey, the Chief Finance Officer who is the chairman of the ERP Executive Steering Committee (ERP ESC), BPC, in his welcome address highlighted on the expectation of proactive involvement of ERP Working group who will be involved in the project full time and committed high level sponsor and executive support from the ERP Executive Steering committee and the management during the various stages of the project. He also highlighted on the urgency for the appointment of the Head of Departments (HODs) as the Business Process Owners (BPOs) who will be the final authority to sign off BPC Processes during the various stages of Business blueprinting phase of the project mainly to have ownership at the highest level, which was formalized during the readiness workshop.
Mr. Pema Tshering, the Project Manager, BPC made a presentation on the SAP ERP Project Progress updates wherein he highlighted the project background, the scope of work under the project, BPC’s SAP ERP Implementation program management structure, project logistics and status of project as of August 10, 2010.
The key objective of the readiness workshop was to set the expectation, brief the team on the project implementation methodology, the roles and responsibilities of the project team and the logistics that are required for the project. The work shop was conducted by Mr. Balaji Srinivasamurthy, Delivery Manager and Mr. Anupam Sarkar, Project Manager of Ms. Wipro Ltd., India. The Readiness workshop was followed by a Presentation on Change Management (Why Change?) by Ms. Wipro Ltd.
The BPC management team, the Business Process Owners (BPOs), key decision makers and the ERP core team which comprises of the ERP Executive Steering Committee Members, the Project Manager and the working group participated in the SAP ERP implementation readiness workshop.
