BPC Awarded 400kV D/C Punatshangchhu-I Transmission Lines to Consortium of M/s. Joyti Structures Limited, India & M/s. Gammon, India Limited.

The contract for construction of two numbers (Package A & B) of 400kV D/C transmission lines from Punatsangchhu-I to Sunkosh has been awarded to Consortium of M/s. Jyoti Structures Ltd., India & M/s. Gammon India Ltd., India. The Contract Agreement was signed on August 12, 2010 at Nu. 2,900,851,627 (Ngultrum Two Thousand Nine Hundred Million Eight Hundred Fifty One Thousand Six Hundred Twenty Seven Only) for each package. The total value of the project is Nu. 5.802 billion and scheduled to complete in 48 (forty eight) months.
The construction of transmission line is taken up by BPC as a deposit work from Punatsangchhu-I Hydroelectric Project Authority (PHPA-I). The transmission line will evacuate the power generated by Punatsangchhu I project. This is a priority project and has to be completed before the completion of Punatsangchhu I project. The transmission line traverses difficult terrain and will be a challenging task. With a team of dedicated workers in close coordination with the Contractor, BPC aims to complete the work on schedule.
This is the biggest single project executed by BPC till date and BPC is executing construction of 400kV transmission system for the first time.
