The 6th Project Review Meeting (PRM) was held on May 17-18, 2012 at Malbase (Pasakha) to review the progress the RE Projects. All the Project Managers, Divisional Managers and Dy. Managers of RECDs & RECSDs attended the meeting. The meeting was held at Malbase to review the project and, at the same time, inspect and demonstrate new construction technology using telescopic poles and fittings in one of the sessions.
Currently RED is executing five projects viz. JICA RE 1, JICA RE 2, ADB IV, ADB V and ADA targeting over 33,000 households. As on April 2012, over 19,000 households were connected to grid electricity (excluding the Fill-in RE works executed by DCSD).
In addition to the above RE works, RED is also executing construction of two 33 kV lines: (1) Kewathang (Trongsa) to Bumthang and (2) Pelrithang to Jigmeling (Sarpang).
Besides the works’ progress, RED also discussed some general issues such as the transfer of manpower from one RECD to another based on the volume of works they were/would be handling.
After a very successful meeting, the RED pledged to continue to work hard, taking RE Works as “GHEWA” and aiming towards the achievement of Electricity For All by 2013.
