People of remote Gewogs of Lajab, Tshangkha and Khebisa under Dagana Dzongkhag and Patshaling, Phuntenchu and Tsirangtoe under Tsirang Dzongkhag have for the first time switched on the light. The power distribution infrastructures in these Gewogs were partly charged and commissioned from December 22, 2011 to January 14, 2012. “Lajab Gewog would immensely benefit from electricity connection and this blessing would bring prosperity and happiness to the lives of our people” said Lajab Gup. “We no longer have to carry kerosene from Goshi or Dagana which is a one day walk from Khebisa”, said Bhim Bdr. Gurung, Ex-Chimi of Khebisa. With the charging of power infrastructures for these Gewogs, all 26 Geogs (except Dorona Gewog under Dagana Dzongkhag) in Tsirang and Dagana Dzongkhags have access to grid electricity supply.

The Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC) and M/s. Schneider Electric Infrastructure Limited (the demerged Distribution Undertaking of AREVA T&D India Limited) India entered into agreement on the 25th of January, 2012 for “Turnkey package for Design, Engineering, Supply & Delivery of 2 Nos, 15MVA, 132/33kV Power Transformer for 132/33kV Yurmoo Substation at Yurmoo under Trongsa Dzongkhag”. The contract amount is Nu: 29,400,000.00 (Ngultrum: Twenty Nine Million Four Hundred Thousand only) with contract completion period of Six (6) months. Once completed, the substation will provide construction power to Mangdechhu Hydro Electric Project (MHEP) and will also strengthen the infrastructure in providing reliable power to Trongsa & Bumthang Dzongkhag.

The newly constructed lines and sub-stations in Tapa I, II & III villages & Gairigoan area under Tading geog, Samtse Dzongkhag will be test charged w.e.f. 23rd Jan.2011 and will remain charged thereafter. Therefore, all the general public of Tapa & Gairigoan area is advised to keep themselves and their animals away from the electrical installation to refrain from any electrical hazards. BPC will not be responsible for any mishaps due to non-compliance to above notification.

This is with reference to the above mentioned tender for the supply and delivery Unitized Substations and Power Transformers. In this regard, BPC would like to inform all bidders that due to poor response by the bidders, the Corporate Tender Committee (CTC) has decided to extend the bid submission and opening as follows:
a. Date and time for bid submission: 2nd February 2012 at 15:00hours.
b. Date and time for bid opening: 2nd February 2012 at 15:30hours.
Further, for those bidders who have submitted the bid shall be kept in the custody of PSD and shall be opened on the date and time indicated above.

Engineering, Design & Contracts Department in counterpart with the Development & Construction Department and Transmission Department has successfully completed the walk on survey of following two numbers 400 kV D/C Transmission Lines from Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project power house pothead (Trongsa) to proposed 400 kV Jigmeling Substation (Sarpang) via proposed 400 kV pooling Substation at Goling (Zhemgang).
