Electricity Safety Tips

1. Never play with electrical cords, wires, switches, or plugs
2. Don’t use locally made (wooden) immersion rod water heaters. Instead use proper (metallic) immersion water heaters
3. Always buy and use genuine and good quality electrical fittings & wires. These products are safe to use and usually lasts longer
4. Use Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCB) and Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers (ELCB) for protection. Those customers using cut-out Fuses should change over to MCBs which are more reliable and safe
5. Never use a hairdryer or play an electrical radio or television near a bath tub or sink

6. Never climb utility poles or electrical towers. Do not throw stones on poles and insulators
7. Do not overload outlets with too many plugs
8. Stay away from Substations and any other electrical equipment marked “Danger”, “High Voltage” or “Keep Out”
9. Don’t touch an electric switch with wet hands
10. Never overload outlets with too many plugs
11. Never plug in an electric cord that is frayed
12. Don’t use electrical equipment outdoors in the rain
13. Never use water to put out electrical fires
14. Don’t stand under trees or telephone poles during a storm
15. Stay away from fallen electrical lines
16. If you see a downed power line, move away from the line and anything touching it
