Background
The Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC) will commission the National Load Dispatch Center (NLDC) on the 17th of December 2011 at 15:00 Hours coinciding with the National Day.
For a growing economy like ours, a lot of economic activities depend on electricity and how reliably the related services are provided. Electricity is, therefore, a key sector and the backbone of our economy, which is why its efficient delivery assumes greater importance. As our power system network grows, through the construction of new transmission lines for evacuation of power from the upcoming major hydropower projects and the construction of distribution infrastructure related to Electricity for All by 2013, the existing network will become complex making its management increasingly difficult. This will impede the reliability to deliver electricity services efficiently and, therefore, presents a huge challenge to BPC. To overcome this, the power system will have to be made efficient, and an efficient power system means that the Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Supply and Sale of electricity must work in close coordination. This can only be achieved through proper supervision and control of all components of the power system, which is why a central coordinating agency that can effectively supervise and control the power system becomes necessary. Such an arrangement helps ensure integrated operation of the national power system for achieving maximum economy and operational efficiency. It is because of this important objective that the need to establish a National Load Dispatch Center (NLDC) was strongly felt.

A slide show on how CPR (Cardio pulmonary resuscitation/also known as kiss of life) was conducted and screened to the public. They were also shown the animations of the awareness broadcast on BBS. They all seemed to love the animations and they said that the animations carry a lot of message on the DO’s and DON’T’s of electricity. The public informed us that they would inform their children on the risks of electricity. The people were very happy for the initiative taken by the BPC and they thanked us. Snacks and lunch was served for the participants after the camapign.
