Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC) has awarded contracts for the Supply, Construction, Testing and Commissioning of major transmission line projects under its transmission network development program.
The contract for the Supply, Construction, Testing and Commissioning of one 400 kV D/C Transmission Line from Gamri II to Khorlochu (Twin Moose), one 220 kV D/C Transmission Line from Tshephu to Gamri II, and one 220 kV S/C Transmission Line from Gamri I to Gamri II was awarded to M/s. Shyama Power India Limited–Vajra Builders Pvt. Ltd. JV on 24 September 2026.
The contract value is Nu. 2,146 million, with a completion period of 32 months.
2. Khorlochu–Durungri Transmission Line
The contract for the Supply, Construction, Testing and Commissioning of the Khorlochu–Durungri Transmission Line (1×400 kV D/C ACSR Twin Moose) was awarded to M/s. Kalpataru Projects International Limited on 24 September 2026.
The contract value is Nu. 4,392 million, with a completion period of 41 months.
3. Durungri–Goling Transmission Line
The contract for the Supply, Construction, Testing and Commissioning of the Durungri–Goling Transmission Line (1×400 kV D/C ACSR Twin Moose) was awarded to M/s. KEC International Limited on 30 September 2026.
The contract value is Nu. 3,591 million, with a completion period of 36 months.
These transmission projects represent an important step in strengthening Bhutan’s high-voltage transmission network. In addition to enhancing the reliability and capacity of the national transmission system, the new transmission infrastructure will support the evacuation of power from major hydropower projects in eastern Bhutan, enabling the efficient transfer of generated power to the national grid and supporting the country’s growing electricity demand and export potential.
