Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC) was formed as an offshoot of the erstwhile Department of Power, the then Ministry of Trade and Industry and was launched as Public Utility Company on 1st July 2002 with an objective that the corporatization of the utility functions would lead to greater efficiency and better delivery of electricity supply services in the power sector.
Later, the Ownership was transferred to Druk Holding and Investment Limited (DHI), the commercial arm of the Royal Government of Bhutan, established in 2007 upon issuance of Royal Charter in 2007 “to hold and manage the existing and future investments of the Royal Government for the long term benefit of the people of Bhutan”
In view of the current situation, Electrification Division (ED), Distribution Construction Department (DCD), Distribution Services (DS), Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC), Thimphu would like to notify that the work tender mentioned below is postponed until further notice.
Bhutan Power Corporation Ltd. (BPC) will be auctioning off the unserviceable items on “As Is Where Is” basis through a sealed bid. BPC is pleased to invite the interested bidders to participate in the open Auction. The detail bill of quantities is indicated in the bid document. The brief details of the Bid are as follow:

The Bhutan Power Corporation Limited, Electricity Services Division, Wangdue will be carrying out test charging of newly constructed distribution lines and substations in the following places under Daga Gewog, Wangdue Dzongkhag and shall remain charged thereafter.
1. Babshey: 12th October 2020
2. Ngaba & Doluwa: 14th October 2020
Therefore, the public are advised to keep themselves and their livestock away from vicinity of newly constructed lines & substation to avoid electrical hazards.
BPC shall not be responsible for any mishap for noncompliance to this notification please.

The new 11kV VCBs were purchased in the year 2019 and were kept at Lobeysa Substation. These breakers were purchased as per the approved investment plan to replace the old 11kV VCB Panels in various Substations. The old 11kV VCB Panels were installed in the year 1986 and has been in service for a long period of time.
The commissioning engineer from the manufacturer (Pascal Switch care India (P) Limited Kolkata) could not be called due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic and therefore this Division with the prior approval from General Manager, Transmission Department decided to carry out the installation, testing and commissioning of the 11kV VCB Panels by using our own In-house expertise.
This initiative have saved a huge cost of installation, testing and commissioning charges to BPC and their timely installation and charging of the new 11kV Breaker Panels benefits our valued customers in Punakha and Wangduephodrang Dzongkhag, while improving service reliability.
