The Salang Tendrel Ceremony for the construction of the 132/33kV Indoor Gas-Insulated Substation located at Rewan, Mongar was performed yesterday.
This is to seek blessings for the smooth commencement and successful completion of the project in accordance with traditional customs to invoke good fortune, remove obstacles, and ensure safety and prosperity throughout the project duration.
The Project Information Board was also inaugurated to marks the formal commencement of the project and signifies the commitment of all stakeholders towards timely and successful implementation.
The ceremony was graced by the Honโble Chief Executive Officer of Bhutan Power Corporation Limited, officials from the Tsakaling Gewog Administration, representatives from other agencies, and employees of the Bhutan Power Corporation Limited.
The construction of the substation is a vital infrastructure development aimed at strengthening the regional power network, improving system reliability, and meeting the growing electricity demand. The project reflects the governmentโs continued commitment to sustainable energy development and reliable power supply for the people.
The project is expected to significantly enhance the reliability, capacity, and quality of power supply in the region, while supporting socio-economic development and future load growth.

The training on HRIS, HR Functions, and Role of General Support Staff/Officer commenced today, November 3, 2025, graced by the Director, Corporate Services Division, and the General Manager, Support Services Division.
A total of 39 General Support Staff and Officers (6 males and 33 females) are participating in the program. The training aims to strengthen the capacity of HR and Administrative personnel across various divisions and regions.
As HR and Admin functions form the backbone of any organization, our teams serve as the crucial link between management and employeesโcontributing directly to the companyโs efficiency, morale, and overall success.
With Bhutan Power Corporationโs continued growth and transformation, this program seeks to ensure that our HR and Administrative services remain agile, professional, and responsive to the evolving needs of the organization.
The training will conclude on November 7, 2025.

SAARC Capacity Building Workshop on Advanced & Innovative Transmission System Design and Optimization was held from 14โ16 October 2025 in Thimphu, Bhutan. The three-day program was organized by the SAARC Energy Center in collaboration with Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC) and the Department of Energy (DoE), MOENR, Royal Government of Bhutan. The training workshop was attended by 19 power sector professionals representing BPC, DoE, and Bhutan Power System Operator (BPSO) & Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA).
The inaugural session was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Tula Ram Poudel, Program Coordinator, SAARC Energy Center, Mr. Karma P. Dorji, Director General, Department of Energy, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Mr. Sonam Tobjey, Chief Executive Officer, Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC), Ms. Dawa Chhoedron, Chief Engineer, Power System & Market Division, and Mr. Sonam Tshering, Government Board Member of the Centre from Bhutan, Mr. Kesang, General Manager, Transmission Operation & Maintenance Division, BPC, focal person from Bhutan Ms. Nanda, Executive Engineer, BPC. Experts -Mr. Hassan Zaidi (Power Planners International, Pakistan), Netra Gyawali, PhD (IOE, Tribhuvan University, Nepal), and Mr. Syed Mahmudul Hasan Rafat (ETCBL Global, Bangladesh) served as resource persons, delivering in-depth sessions on both theoretical and practical aspects of transmission system design using PSS/E and PLS-CADD software tools.
The workshop is expected to have strengthened the technical capabilities of Bhutanโs power sector professionals, supporting the countryโs ongoing energy transition and growing integration of renewable energy.
