This is to inform our valued customers that Electricity Services Division, BPC, Paro shall be taking shutdown of 33kV Shaba feeder on dated 10/6/2021 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to facilitate the up-gradation works at Shaba substation.

However, ESD, BPC, Paro will try to minimize the outages and restore the supply at the earliest possible. For further information please contact the concern service centre.

During the time of shutdown, there will be no power supply to the following areas.

Whole villages under gewog, Chang Dungka, Changdungma, Bondey town, Jangtoena, Goenkha, Kikha & Lateykha under Wangchang Gewog and Woochu, Gabjana, Drugidingkha, Laptshathangkha & Jewphu under Luni Gewog.

The WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY observed on 5^th June every year is one of the major annual events organized by the United Nations (UN) to generate awareness about the importance of nature. According to the UN the theme of this year’s World Environment Day is ‘ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION’ and ‘Ecosystem Restoration’ can take many forms such as planting trees, greening cities, rewilding gardens, changing diets, or cleaning up streams, rivers, and lakes.

Therefore, to mark this important day, Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC) celebrated the ‘WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY’ 2021 in a small way by organizing volunteers from the company spearheaded by Environment, GIS, and Survey Division by cleaning the section of the Chubachu Stream near Chubachhu power substation. This section of the stream was adopted by BPC in 2017 and the cleaning of the stream has been an annual event.

Volunteers (Director, HRCS, Project Director & Staff) have collected about 15 bags of waste from the stream and stream bank comprised of household wastes, old rugs and clothes, construction debris, sanitary pads, plastic, PET bottles, and soda cans.

The EGSD will organize such cleaning campaign annually.

Phuentsholing has been experiencing power supply interruptions due to weather conditions and fast growing vegetation at this time of the year and we would like to inform our valued customers that BPC is doing everything possible given the current Covid-19 related restrictions to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

While the BPC colony with the staff at Phuentsholing are marked as red-zone, our staffs from other nearby Divisions are attending to the faults and restoring the power supply.

1.  ESD Samdrup Jongkhar

ESD Samdrupjongkhar has been responding to the emergency needs of the electricity during ongoing lock down with the formation of two teams (Core team & the backup team). These two teams were isolated from each other and were stationed in different locations (Core team in RSD area & backup in the ESD office) to avoid direct contact amongst the team.

With the detection of COVID-19 positive case in BPC colony in Samdrup Jongkhar, BPC premises (Office & colony) is cordoned off and declared as Red Zone by COVID TF. One of the team members from core team (stationed in RSD area) is identified as the  primary contact of the positive case detected from BPC colony. In this scenario, both core team and back up are not available leading to shortage of critical manpower in the area for delivering emergency services.

To address the gap, additional layer of backup team is formed with the employees from nearby offices as follows:

This additional backup team has been activated and dispatched to Samdrup Jongkhar. They shall be operating on an isolation mode.

In reference to our notifications issued on 27^th April 2021 and 3^rd May 2021 regarding breakdown maintenance of SAP billing server, BPC could not facilitate the online payments for the period from 23^rd April till 2^nd May. The penalty charged for the bills with due dates falling within the above period shall be waived off. The penalty adjustment shall be carried out in the subsequent bills.
